When I started my journey getting tattooed, I used to think long and hard about what I would be permanently inking into my body. This gorgeous tattoo is one of my most recent, and it honestly wasn't planned out at all. I found the tattoo artist, Javier Rivera online and fell in love with his work. I told him where I wanted the tattoo and gave him a vibe: spooky witchy lady, and he ran with that small prompt and I ended up with this.
This tattoo, unlike my more recent tattoos, does have a meaning. Anyone who has seen the movie The Fifth Element probably remembers the scene where Korben Dallas attempts to kiss Leeloo while she was sleeping. Leeloo wakes up, grabs Korben's gun and puts it to his head and says "Senno ecto gammat" repeatedly. When Korben asks Priest Vito Cornelius what this means, he roughly translates it to "never again, without my permission". I got this tattoo after a good friend of mine had planted a hidden camera in his bathroom to try to catch me changing. Thankfully, I caught it. This wasn't my first experience with S/A or a man attempting to, or actually taking advantage of me. It was however the first time one of my close friends had. I was devastated. I was angry. And I tattooed this promise to myself into my skin, that I wouldn't allow anyone to take advantage of me like that again. Never without my permission.
This piece started as just the clock without hands. My mom and I got that matching tattoo years ago as a representation of the story book she used to read to my brother and I before bed. "Love you forever" is a book about a mother taking care of her baby throughout childhood and adulthood. The story ends with the child carrying his mother and repeating those words to his mom "love you forever, like you for always, as long as you're with me, my mommy you'll be." It always makes us cry like little babies. Pt1.
The rest of the sleeve was added when my dad got jealous that I had a matching tattoo with my mom but not him. My family was really into the scouting community growing up, and we all took a training class called "Woodbadge". In the course you're assigned an animal (which is basically what group you're in for the training), both my parents were foxes and I was an owl, so we got those tattooed to signify that. Pt2.
One of my good friends Tesslyn tattooed this for me a while back. It's the sigil for our favorite band Amigo the Devil. His music means so much to me, and any time he's in town Tess and I go to see him together. It only seemed fitting to let her tattoo this on me.
Sometimes you just get tattooed because it's pretty. :) My friend Catalina stick and poked this tattoo on me while I was working in the body mod industry at Old Traditions Body Art.
